Jacques Henri Lartigue

Lartigue fue un fotográfo francés que principalmente trabajo sobre carreras automotrices y las mujeres estilosisimas de principios de s XX. Encuentro su trabajo muy inspirador me encanta el porte de estas mujeres caminando por las calles de paris llenas de plumas, pieles y encajes hermosos. Hay algo en sus figuras que resulta conmovedor y ciertamente inspirador.

Lartigue was a french photographer whose fame came from his photographs of automobile races and fashionistas walking through Paris. I love his work, I find it deeply inspiring... I'm in love with these women walking through Paris ins their incredible dresses adorned with feathers, furs and lace. Something in these images is moving... and certainly inspiring.

Miroslava Duma

Not so long ago I uploaded some pics of this gorgeous girl with an amazing personal style and actual human height! Now I know her name is Miroslava Duma and according to my research (:P) she's a fashion editor for Harper's Bazaar Rusia.

  

Hace poco compartí con ustedes las fotos de una chica con un estilo personal inconfundible que además parece tener estatura humana! Ahora se que su nombre es Miroslava Duma y según parece trabaja como editora de moda en Harper's Bazaar Rusia.

Even Betty (above) is wearing them... this might be a signal I need to try something new. I've allways thought sequins are a little too much over the top, however I'm up for trying some sparkle.

Free!!! ... At Last

I'm finally on vacation, starting today I'm free from school! During the past weeks I delivered hundreds of projects and essays andwent through final exams. However... I'm back for good and loving Madonna more than ever before. I went to her second concert in mexico City and I can only say she's amazing and one of my role models.

Por fin se terminó mi semestre. Las últimas dos semanas me parecieron eternas entregué cientos de proyectos e hice exámenes finales. De cualquier manera estoy de vuelta con más amor hacia Madonna en mi corazón, el domingo fui al segundo concierto y solo puedo decir que es una mujer increíble y uno de mis ídolos.

Another thing that excites me (Besides Christmas... which I love) is the new Thakoon collection for Target. The collection will hit the stores on Christmas Day!! and I'm already a little impatient for my New Year's shopping.

Otra de las cosas que me emociona (Además de que amo la Navidad) es la nueva colección de Thakoon para Target. La colección entrará en los almacenes el día de Navidad!! y yo al menos ya estoy algo impaciente por mis compras de año nuevo.

 

Yes, it's truly not the kind of clothes you would expect in the middle of the winter, but I don't mind shopping in advance.

Already Missin You...

Yes, I'm still drowned in projects and homework as you read this I probably should be studying for a bunch of exams, however I couldn't go on without paying tribute to Mr. Fat who passed away this morning. My kitty was elevn years old and had been sick for the last couple of months... I can't stop thinking that I just lost a member of my family after so much time spent together.

Sí, aun estoy ahogada en tarea y de hecho en medio de exámenes pero no puedo continuar sin hacer un pequeño homenaje al Sr. Fat que falleció esta mañana. Mi gatito tenía once años y llevaba un par de meses enfermo... no puedo dejar de pensar que perdí a un miembro de mi familia despues de tanto tiempo juntos.

Reality Show: Vogue Paris

Today I'm posting and editorial that appeared in August's Vogue Paris. The editorial's theme is basically comparing the rumway look against the street style, I'm uploading half of the pics that show how pieces that may seem unwearable actually work off the runway.

Aquí les dejo un editorial que apareció en Vogue Paris/ Agosto 2008. Básicamente se encarga de contrastar el look de pasarela con el street wear, aquí les pongo la mitad práctica de como se llevan las tendencias en el mundo real y como piezas que difícilmente pensaríamos en usar funcionan.

Bows and Ruffles

Lately I've been a little bit obsessed with ruffles and bows in blouses. However I'm feeling frustrated because it is so difficult to actually found a blouse that isn't over the top, I've already seen a couple of blouses that could do, nevertheless I'm still looking.

Am I the only wan who's too fabric consciuos?

Crisis?

I'm studying business and finance therefore the whole credit crunch and economic recession interests me quite much. I don't focus only on the future of the financial sector, but also I'm interested on what this may mean to other industries. During the last years the fashion industry has based it's development on the luxury-based commerce and I wonder if this will be enough.

Mi área de estudio esta dentro del sector financiero por lo tanto todo este asunto de la crisis hipotecaria me interesa bastante. No solo considero relevantes sus impactos en el futuro del sector financiero a nivel mundial, sino a nivel micro. La industria de la moda ha impulsado su crecimiento en los últimos años a través del comercio del lujo y me pregunto si esto será suficiente.

During the last week we saw fashion all-around the world, presenting shows that knew nothing of the crisis neither of the austerity that should be kept in times like "this". In the 40's Parisian Fashion received terrible criticism because of the opulence they dared to show in their runways. As the war continued they struggled against extinction finding it harder to get their production materials. The germans (who understood quite well the power of fashion in society) tried to acquire the most important fashion houses... not succesfully though.

En la pasada semana de la moda alrededor del mundo vimos propuestas y muy lejanas a la austeridad que se espera en una periodo recesivo. En los 40's la moda Parisina fue terriblemente criticada por la opulencia de sus diseños y conforme la guerra avanzaba estuvo cerca de la extinción conforme se dificultaba la obtención de sus materias primas. Tratando de aprovecharse de esto los alemanes (Que entendían bien el poder de la moda en la sociedad) trataron de apoderarse de las grandes casas de moda, sin mucho éxito afortunadamente.

However, afert such a dark time great geniuses ,whose influence is still on the runway, appeared. We can mention brilliant minds such as Christopher Balenciaga and Christian Dior.

Sin embargo, después de un periodo tan lúgubre aparecieron grandes genios, cuya influencia aun se siente en las pasarelas como Cristóbal Balenciaga y Christian Dior.

Perhaps today the future might not be as bright as we want it to be, but the fashion industry certainly is optimistic and innovative. All we have to do is take a look to the latest Balenciaga collection and through Nicolas Ghesquière we now know that there is future for fashion no matter what.

Puede que hoy el panorama sea gris, pero las pasarelas son optimistas y propositivas solo hay que ver al heredero de Balenciaga, Nicolas Ghesquière para saber que hay un futuro brillante e innovador para la moda pase lo que pase.

What about us, consumers? Are we ready to buy anything that isn't amazing? I think that fashion's task is to go on and surprise once again, bring inspiration to all of us telling us better times are on their way.

¿Y nosotros? ¿los consumidores? ¿Estaremos dispuestos a gastar en objetos todo menos increíbles? Yo creo que la tarea de la industria de la moda es seguir y volver a sorprendernos, tienen la tarea de inspirarnos y mejorar con su arte los días difíciles.
